There are still regions in Africa that remain under-hunted and under-explored in the realm of hunting. At Kuche Safaris, we provide exclusive bowhunting opportunities in South Africa. Bowhunting is rapidly gaining popularity as a group sport in both America and South Africa. Our hunting locations in South Africa, Botswana, and other African regions offer unparalleled opportunities, complemented by breathtaking sightseeing experiences.
Bowhunting in South Africa is more affordable than you might expect, and you do not require advanced or heavy equipment to pursue your dream animals. If you can accurately shoot at distances of 20 to 30 yards with a 55 to 70-pound bow, you are well on your way to achieving your goals. However, for walk-and-stalk hunts, proficiency at longer distances is advisable. When you compare a bow hunt in Africa to those in Alaska or the Western United States, you will likely be pleasantly surprised by the value and the adventure that awaits. We encourage you to take the time to make this comparison.
With Kuche Safaris, your experience will not be limited to just one or two shots; you will encounter a diverse array of species and abundant wildlife every day. Many clients report seeing 50 or more animals at once. Our facilities are spacious enough to accommodate companions, allowing for plenty of photo opportunities during your hunt. Regular feedback from our clients indicates that they have witnessed more game in a single day than throughout their entire hunting careers. It is indeed possible to see and hunt your desired animals within a few days, although the challenge of aligning the right animal with the perfect opportunity remains. Rest assured, we have your desired animals available.
At Kuche Safaris, we are equipped to accommodate both large and small groups, ensuring we have the game you seek.
Our pricing is highly competitive within the region. Our professional hunters are avid bow hunters themselves, fully understanding your needs. No visa or special documentation is required for entry into South Africa. Some of our locations are exclusively designated for bow hunting. There are no additional flights necessary to reach our camp, and we strive to minimize extra costs associated with travel, tailoring your hunting experience to your preferences—after all, it is your hunt. We also cater to hunters with disabilities for both bow and rifle hunts. Approximately 70% of our clients return for future hunts, and our facilities and blinds are designed to be wheelchair accessible, with 90% of our blinds being permanent structures.
Kuche Safaris operates across various hunting areas, ranging from a few thousand acres to approximately 90 square miles. We cover the entirety of South Africa to ensure you receive the best value and can fulfill your species requests. All the animals we offer are indigenous to the regions where you hunt. We do not endorse put-and-take hunts.
At Kuche Safaris, we guarantee that if a professional hunter determines that a trophy does not meet SCI minimum standards, you have the option to hunt another of the same species at no additional cost. Our professional hunters and staff are highly trained, experienced, and knowledgeable about the hunting field and animal sizes. We invite you to explore our gallery section. We take great pride in our recovery rate for wounded animals, with less than 3% of the 210 animals hunted in 2009 not being recovered.
Kuche Safaris operates across various privately owned hunting territories, which allows us to provide exceptional service and high-quality trophies. Over the past three years, we have successfully hunted several top 10 animals using rifles, bows, and crossbows. Our luxurious main camp is located approximately four hours’ drive from Johannesburg International Airport.

Research on wildlife has shown that both the quality and population of wild game in the Limpopo Province have seen significant growth over the past two decades, largely due to many cattle ranchers returning to the hunting industry and the availability of more land for wildlife. You will have the opportunity to hunt in areas where you can encounter up to 28 different species on the same property, providing a rich experience with more game and species than those you specifically target.
Each year, we acquire new hunting areas to offer fresh experiences and diverse scenery for our 80% of returning clients. It is noteworthy that many of the top 20 animals recognized by the Safari Club International (SCI) in various species found in South Africa have been hunted in the Limpopo region, including Kudu, Blue Wildebeest, and Impala. Kuche Safaris also offers Big Five and dangerous game hunts with archery equipment, where your professional hunter will carry a backup rifle for your safety. We will make every effort to help you achieve a successful bow kill, with the backup rifle being utilized only in situations where you or others may be at risk.
The optimal times for bow hunting in our region are from mid-June to mid-October, coinciding with the onset of our rainy season. To maximize your chances of success and enhance your sporting experience, we utilize various hunting locations around the camp. Our primary method involves hunting from stands or blinds situated near waterholes and feeding areas.
Our blinds are strategically designed and positioned for shots within a range of 20 to 30 yards, which also minimizes the likelihood of wounding an animal. We offer elevated, ground, and pit blinds, each spacious enough to accommodate up to four individuals. This arrangement ensures comfort and mobility for our hunters with disabilities. We understand the specific requirements of some of our handicapped hunters regarding heat and ventilation, and we adjust our blinds based on the information you provide in advance, such as the height of your draw and whether you are left or right-handed. The hunting environments and vegetation resemble those found in Southern Texas, USA. While walk-and-stalk hunting can be challenging, you are welcome to attempt it. Most of our game species behave similarly to white-tailed deer.
A typical day begins at 5:30 AM with breakfast, followed by hunting until lunchtime around noon at the camp. After lunch, hunting resumes until dusk. If you prefer, you can opt to hunt throughout the day with a packed lunch. You will be accompanied by a fully licensed professional hunter who will assist in identifying your trophy and guiding you during the hunt. Once an animal is harvested, it should be promptly taken to the skinning area for processing and salting.
Effective shot placement is crucial, particularly when hunting African wildlife, as the vital organs are located between the front shoulders. A highly recommended resource for understanding the anatomy of African game is “The Perfect Shot” by Dr. Kevin Robertson, published by Safari Press. While there is much to discuss regarding the use of fixed or mechanical broadheads, both types have proven successful and have also encountered failures. Therefore, we advise you to choose the equipment that you are most comfortable with. Ultimately, the focus should remain on shot placement and penetration. Whenever possible, we aim to record each shot on video, allowing us to relive the experience and assist in tracking wounded animals.
In Swahili, the word “Kuche” means: “To be busy and happy from dawn to dusk”
This is our promise to you. Pure enjoyment with a personal touch!
